Surgery

Chirurgie

My middle daughter keeps "nagging" her left handed sleeves... I had to "amputate" her Olga sweater.

Place stitches on a circular needle, a few rows from the area to "amputate": insert needle under the right leg of the little v formed by each st.

Make sure to pick up stitches from the same row, all around.

Cut but not too close the needle to make sue you are not cutting in the stitches on the needle.

Remove the little bits of yarn.
Retirez les petits fils en trop.

Find the yarn end.
Trouvez le bout du fil à tricoter.

You may need to frog a few stitches to have a yarn end long enough to darn in later.

Knit the sleeve. Since it's knitted from the top down, you will have to replace the eventual increases by decreases.
Tricotez.

Steam iron the new knitted sleeve with a damp cloth.

And voilà a brand new sleeve!
Et voilà une manche toute neuve!

A proud mum

Une maman très fière

A nice article about me in the brand new French Webzine called In the loop. What the article doesn't say is that a very special guest participated in the Icelandic intarsia workshop : my oldest daughter, 10 years old...

What's there?

What does Smali want and where does he want to take us? To know more, walk in.

This is a little participation to a French collectif blog: the subject of this month, Copy, imitate, inspire, cheat. Easy, I cheated using my own model inspired by the Old tradition and the embroidery of Cécile. Here are the three Cécile mittens I've made so far.

Home sweet home

Well maybe not so sweet... yet!
Peut-être pas si mignonne que ça ... encore!

Not too found of the actual interior decoration...but remember the shoe: you will see it again in a knitterly context!

Have you seen the lopapeysa, the Icelandic lopi yoke sweater?

As most of you know, I've been living in Luxembourg for some years now... but I'm moving back to Iceland this summer! I can't wait to be back home!

The annual Nordic knitting conference Gavstrik 2012 is held in turns in a small town og village in one of the nordic countries. Gavstrik (www.gavstrik.dk) is a grass roots organization of knitting professionals and enthusiasts founded over 20 years ago.
This year, it is held in Iceland and I'm excited to be among the teachers. Besides my workshops, I will be showing you many beautiful things at the traditional marketplace on Saturday.
