A few pictures from this week-end at the Wool festival in Belgium but I run out of battery and can't show you unfortunately all the other stands, the lovely castle of Boninne, the farm's settings, the minni spinning mill, the yurt, all the animals, the donkeys and the enormous lazy pig, the workshops for the children, the crazy delicious home-made strawberry jam, the cheeses...

Plus de piles dans mon appareil photo malheureusement pour vous en montrer plus, les stands remplis de merveilles, le superbe château de Bonnine, la ferme, la filature, la yourte dehors, tous les animaux, les ânes, l'énorme cochon paresseux, les ateliers pour les enfants, la confiture de fraise maison à se damner, les fromages...

Our summer tours are now fully booked and I'm very happy to continue my collaboration with the Icelandic Mountain Guides and be able to share with you once again my genuine interest in the Icelandic knitting heritage along with my love of Icelandic nature. 

This new tour, Knitting in the Magical Icelandic Night,  from November 3rd to 7th, is truly a magical combination of Icelandic knitting, amazing nature and lights and culture. Going to Iceland in November is a different experience and my mother's preferred time to visit me! Enjoy some pictures and go and check it more thoroughly on the website! The knitting part is just as exciting!

Nos voyages d'été sont désormais complets et je suis très contente de continuer ma collaboration avec les Guides de montagne islandais et de pouvoir à nouveau partager avec vous ma passion pour les traditions de tricot d'Islande ainsi que pour l'Islande tout court.

Ce nouveau voyage, Tricoter dans la nuit magique islandaise, du 3 au 7 novembre, est véritablement une combinaison magique de tricot islandais, d'incroyable paysages et lumières et de culture. Aller en Islande à cette époque de l'année est une expérience très différente et la préférée de ma mère pour me rendre visite! Voici quelques photos mais allez donc sur le site pour plus de détails et d'informations. La partie tricot est tout aussi excitante!

I'm browsing through my pictures to illustrate the knitting tours for next year.  So many wonderful souvenirs of trekking I've been guiding in Iceland. Can't help but sharing some with you.

Je cherche parmi mes photos de quoi illustrer les voyages de tricot pour l'année prochaine. Que d'excellents souvenirs des trekks que j'ai guidés en Islande... Je ne peux pas m'empêcher d'en partager quelques uns avec vous.

After 2 days constant rain, unusually heavy, we cross what should have been a tiny little strain - Après 2 jours de pluie constante, on traverse ce qui aurait dû n'être qu'un minuscule ruisseau

After the rain comes the sun that dries everything! - Après la pluie, le beau temps et tout sèche!

With all that water, the waterfall is even mor beautiful - Avec toute cette eau, la cascade n'en est que plus belle

A bit more of self-contentment to share this week: The Icelandic Knitter is the very special guest of the 4th annual Wool Festival in Belgium, June, 25th and 26th, close Namur (see directions). I will also have a workshop on Saturday from 14 to 17h. Aren't those just exciting news?

Encore un peu plus de contentement cette semaine: le tricot islandais et Tricoteuse d'Islande sont à l'honneur lors du 4ème Festival de la laine en Belgique, qui a lieu à la Filature du Hibou près de Namur (voir plan d'accès),  les 25 et 26 juin.

I have a four pages spread in the French Burda- Fait main, special knitting: about me and knitting, the magazine, the knitting tours, the new books projects. How exciting is that?

If you missed the exhibition "Wools of Europe" that presented a hundred of European wool breed along wonderful designs made with the wool, here is a new opportunity: the exhibition is travelling and will be at the Musée Museum départemental de Gap in France from June 19th  until September 28th, 2011. The official opening will be on July, 1st.

Si vous aviez raté l'exposition "Laines d'Europe" l'année passée à Rambouillet, qui présentait une centaine de races de moutons d'Europe, avec pour illustrer des créations faites avec la laine, voici une occasion à ne pas manquer: l'exposition voyage et sera au Musée Museum départemental de Gap en France du 19 juin au 28 septembre 2011. Le vernissage officiel aura lieu le 1er juillet.

You always need a Brynja or an Olga in Normandy (in Icelandic norður, North, maður in singular/menn in plural, man: the Normands, the men from the North), no matter how good the weather is!
On a toujours besoin d'un Brynja et d'un Olga chez les Normands (en islandais norður, le Nord, maður au singulier/menn au pluriel, l'homme: les hommes du Nord) même s'il fait très beau!

In front of the sund (it's Icelandic for pool!) of Chausey (it's Icelandic for isle - eyja, ey in old Norse; the etymology for Chaus is still debated...).
