I had some really great responses after the article in Knitter´s review and in Lela Nargi´s blog. A lot of people have visited my website and I got many orders of knitting patterns, but also vinaigrette books and felted lights. Thank you so much everybody! Now I´m trying my best to process orders between four laundries, a wedding in Normandie and a trip to the Alpes!

Knitter's review and scarf pattern
I'm supposed to be on holidays right now!
But I definitively had to let you know that my knitting book, Icelandic knitting using Rose patterns, had a really great review on Clara Parke' s Knitter's review. Lela Nargi wrote the review and I have an exclusive scarf pattern for sale on her blog: http://www.lelanarginews.blogspot.com/. Thank you Lela!
By the way the book is / will be/ is about to be available here: Search Press Ltd (the editor in the UK), Unicorn Books in the US, Crafter's Choice, Amazon. And if you can' t wait, you can always contact me...

Happy holidays!
Looking back, I realise that most of my entries are labelled Children... This is what motherhood is about especially during the vacations. So, I´m afraid the rest of the holidays are going to be spent on the girls projects, what ever they are! But if you want to know what I, the mother, am up to, stay tuned until September! Happy Christmas, sorry, summer holidays!

The coquerel with a broken arm
Thea started right away with a new project: a coquerel from The Knitted farmyard I already mentionned. She had already knitted a few garters when she accidentely broke her arm, carrying her little sister around... (!!) So I had to finish the knitting part but she insisted in sewing and stuffing the coquerel herself, which she did very well despite her broken arm. I assisted her with the crocheted finishing.

I Knit Day 2008: line up
The line up for the IKnit Day 2008 is on. I´m very excited to get to be among all those great knitters:
- Jane Sowerby and her absolutely gorgeous Victorian lace knitting (I got her book as soon as it came out). Have a look at the knittalong blog from the book.

- Jane Waller and her vintage patterns from the 40´s: that book I want to have signed!
- Sandra Polley and her cute teddy bears
- artist Ingrid Wagner who knits big, meaning really BIG, with 4 m long needles, 8 cm in diameter
... and so many more such as Inga Hamilton who knits and crochets with recycled materials, the Dutch Knitters , the Knitted landscape , etc...
The lion and the cat
Sylvía finished her cat and Théa her lion. They are both knitted with Álafoss Lopi from Ístex on 6 mm needles. They knitted a square, fold in two and sew, then the body was stuffed, the ears and the head formed with a few stitches, the nose and the eyes embroidered. The tail was fun to make (*k3, push the sts over to the other end of the needle, repeat from*) and Thea added a few loops at the top of the head of her lion, Sylvia a red bow around teh neck.

Meeting with Lela
Can´t remember when exactely, but at least a year ago (may be two?), I "met" Lela Nargi on the internet. She´s an author and freelance journalist who writes extensively about food, travel and knitting. Enough in common to start corresponding, although we never met (yet). I wrote a contribution in her latest book, Knitting through it: Inspiring stories for times of trouble.
Lela just started blogging and I´m thrilled to be her very first post! Check her out at lelanarginews.blogspot.com
